Always at the same place.

I have had this burning on the inside of me the last few days. There isn't anything that's going to bring us closer to Him then His spirit. No program, no great worship team, no great speaker. It is all by the drawing of His spirit to ours.

But as I was feeling this I began to read Mark 5 and John 8. The stories of two different women that had the same conclusion. In Mark 5, the woman with the issue of blood had been hemorrhaging for 12 years. The greek actually says she had a flow issue of her very being. Her existence was flowing out of her. She had spent her money on doctors to not only go poor, but also to get worse. She was an outcast of society because her condition stated that she couldn't be in public. So she was very much loosing herself. Physically, spiritually, emotionally, financially and personally.

She realized that the issue she had was killing her. And she knew the only way to get help was Jesus. When she heard about Him coming, she knew the only thing it would take was to barely touch Him. And we know what happens. She presses through the crowd, touches the bottom of His robe and is healed. Why? Because her faith in Him was greater than the acknowledgment of her affliction. She realized the only way to get rid of what was going to kill her was to give it to Him.

Now in contrast the woman caught in the act of adultery. She too had an issue and was loosing herself. When the Pharisees grab her and bring her to the temple she is throw down at the feet of Jesus. She is there uncovered, humiliated, outcast and about to loose her life. Now think about this. She finds herself in a very similar way with the woman in Mark 5. The key difference...

The woman in John 8 didn't recognize the issue before it was to late. She had a blind eye to the very thing that was destroying her. And so it is with us sometimes. We think we are doing well. that everything is going perfectly. Then all of a sudden, the thing we thought was OK turns out to be an area if stumbling that can lead to hurts, rejection; the loss of our very being.

But where does it lead us? To the same spot every time. Because whether it is by our choice or by force, we always end up at the feet of Jesus. Our issues whether we recognize them or not will always take us to the spot we should have been all along. Both women had an issue. One saw the other missed it. But both ended in healing and restoration.

And that is good news...
